4-H Symbols and Traditions

The 4-H emblem is a green four-leaf clover with a stem and the letter "H" in white or gold on each leaf. Green, nature's common color, is emblematic of springtime, life and youth. White symbolizes high ideals. The four H's represent the Head, Heart, Hands and Health. These signify a unique characteristic of 4-H. The emblem was registered with the United State Patent Office in 1924.

The 4 "H's" stand for

Head-Mental Development. Deeper knowledge and reasoning		Heart-Emotional Development. Developing interest, appreciation, and wholesome attitudes.
Hands-Skills Development. Ability to do, skill in doing, and habit of doing.		Health-Physical Development. Understanding and appreciating a growing and changing body.
